Abalone Spiral Earrings

by Lynda Carson

Copper with abalone

Copper with abalone

Another version of hammered copper washers (I think there's only 82 left in the box!).

Abalone beads were wired onto the circles with 22 gauge sterling silver wire, beginning and ending with tiny swirls.

Gotta go with the liver of sulphur solution to oxidize the pieces, then buff with OOOO steel wool. Used a polishing cloth for shine.

Stunning!
by: Maryanne Murphy

I just love the natural combination of elements. The hammered copper washer is a beautiful backdrop for the abalone, and the wire work gives a nice detailed element.

It's difficult to capture the gimmering colors of abalone with a camera, but having worked with it myself can imanage just how lovely and inspiring these earrings truly are.

Thanks for sharing.
