Amber Lights

by Lynda
(Spring Valley, CA)

Another earring frame, this time in copper with faceted amber glass briolettes.

The bright copper didn't do it for me, so I oxidized them, turning the frames black.

After buffing them with OOOO steel wool, I decided I liked the blacken copper better. So they went back into the LOS bath one more time.

This photo doesn't do the contrast between the dark metal and beads justice. When held up to the light, there's a gorgeous golden glow.

Amber glass and aged metal
by: Rena

Ooooh, I love the contrast between the wire and briolette - cold, dark metal against the warm fire of amber glass!

I imagine that when they're worn, the play of light on them is beautiful.

Also this design puts me in mind of a fleur de lis.

I love the earrings you're doing in this series, Lynda! Thank you for sharing them.

So nice!

I've been getting your updates via email from your blog and seeing your new earrings and loving them - these especially! I love amber and sometimes, if you don't want to use bright silver, it can be a challenge to get something to make the amber beads/stones just pop out at you but this design does it with style!! NICE!
