Amber woven pendant

by Rochelle Hughes
(Red Deer, AB, Canada)

I love the looks and feel of amber, the thought of it being an organic gem fascinates me, to know that once this gem was tree sap and time and the right conditions transformed the sap to gem.

To showcase the fact that insects or other material may be entrapped in amber I wrapped the stone in a Viking weave to make it look like it was caught in a net.

I used 16ga. 24ga. sterling silver and Dominican Republic amber.

Very cool

I love the amber and what a creative way to showcase some of the history with the "netting".

Thanks!
