Amethyst & Copper Necklace

by Zoraida
(Patchogue, NY)

I bought these large, lavender, Amethyst nuggets at a Gem & Mineral show I recently participated in. They looked delicious, like grapes. I already had the big Amethyst cab from last years' show and finally was able to come up with a design I could be happy with.

I don't string beads, which would have looked awesome, so I linked them together simply with copper wire. The smaller bead "stations" are deep purple, Amethyst. I really love the colors in this necklace. The beads almost look edible!

Delicious

You're absolutely correct, Zoirada. The lavender stones do look good enough to eat! Beautiful piece of jewelry.

Purple and copper in harmony
by: Rena

I love how you worked various shades of purple into this piece, Zoraida. I know the thrill you felt when you found the right beads for the cab you'd been saving since last year!

And your chunky bead links are a lovely way to construct the necklace - they have an important presence, but it's a delicate presence instead of a heavy one since it's not a solid strand of large beads.

And as always, your wire artistry is absolutely exquisite!

I've discovered that there are a lot of ladies who are serious fans of purple - and if this necklace hasn't already sold, it will be snapped up the moment a purple-lover sets eyes on it! :)

Thank you

Thank you Leigh, Lynda and Rena,

I love reading your comments. Your feedback and reaction to my jewelry are important to me.

Yes Rena, it was great to finally find those amethyst beads for my cab. The vendor gave me a great price because I had a table at the same show.

I was never a purple person but loving it now!

Love Your Work

A very whimsical, fun & feminine piece. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Beautiful wirework!

I love what you did with the copper and amethyst combination! I have personally been finding that sometimes it just works better to wire beads rather than string them. If the beads are especially large, or the holes aren't beveled, for example. Or it just looks better. This piece definitely falls into the latter category!

Gorgeous!
