This ammolite jewelry was created by myself after collecting and preparing the free form cabs of this rare and beautiful fossil. My other hobby is collecting fossils, since I live in the Province of Alberta it is natural to find fossils. Ammolite is the nacre of an ancient sea creature that lived in the Cretaceous. These particular ammonites are called Placenticeras Meeki and Intercalare female, male), extremely rare fossils, only found in Southern part of Alberta.
Ammolite is considered a precious stone and it is said it is more rare than diamonds.
I was truly inspired by this beautiful organic gem. I used 16ga. sterling silver wire for all my frames and 28ga sterling silver wire for the weaves.
