Andrea's Turquoise Dream
A dear friend of mine asked me to make a necklace for her, based on something she had wanted for some time.
She said that she had looked for years for a turquoise and coral necklace, but never found one "like the one she had pictured in her head."
She said she couldn't draw what she wanted, because it never turned out the way she intended.
Since she had a particular look stuck in her head, I asked her a series of questions, so I could basically "see" the same mental picture she had.
We live 1000 miles apart, so we had to create this via email.
After a week of emails with answers to questions and sample photos, I spent an evening making this piece.
She actually cried when she saw it, saying she had wanted this for years, but could never put it in words.
She sent a picture of herself right after she opened the package. The look on her face is exactly why I make jewelry - in hopes that someone sees a piece that means something special to them.
