Aqua Terra Necklace

Aqua Terra Necklace

Aqua Terra Necklace

Whenever we travel to a new place, the first thing I do is look for bead stores - one of my favorites is Bally Beads in Rockwall, TX.

While browsing their showroom this summer I discovered these wonderful freeform beads of aqua terra jasper and couldn't wait to make this necklace from them.

I teamed them with some picture jasper and czech glass and finished it with a textured sterling toggle.

Although it's simply strung, the irregular shapes and beautiful color variations of the aqua terra jasper make this a striking piece.

Rustic perfection
by: Rena

Oooh, Joan,

I love this necklace. It reminds me of a trip to the beach.

I think you've used the perfect clasp and smaller beads with these aqua terra beauties - it all has a very "meant to be" feeling.

I've never worked with this stone, but seeing this piece makes me think I need to get some of it to play with!

I'm so glad you shared your lovely creation here, Joan!

Thank you, Rena! This necklace literally made itself - as soon as I saw the strand of aqua terra I knew exactly how it should look. Too bad all jewelry creation isn't that easy!

I hear the crash of waves...

Very nice ode to a season and a place. I have a LOT of beach jasper that we collected a gazillion years ago when I was a very young child from some Maine beach (I don't know which one!). It was an incredible place and your necklace reminds me of that trip.

:)
