Art Necklace Italy

This is oil painted sterling silver jewelry. A collaboration of original metal-smithing with silver and detailed vibrant oil paintings of 3 Cypresses.

We designed this pendant together. My husband made the modern, contemporary sterling silver pendant, and I painted the tiny paintings. This is what we call a together piece that combines 2 old crafts: metal-smithing and oil painting.

In this piece we wanted to express our passion for the hills and trees of Italy. As an important detail we designed a fortress on a hill, as so often seen while driving through this beautiful country, La Bella Italia. The loop is made behind the fortress on the hill. The silver chain completes this unique necklace.

The paintings are on canvas, glued into the pendant and varnished for protection. I loved making the tiny paintings for the purpose of wearable art and my husband enjoyed making this special pendant.

Thank you so much for your comment. We are glad you like our piece! We made about 14 pieces together since February this year and we will be making more too, since it is so nice to work on our togetherpieces. And when it's appreciated, that's our reward.

Nancy and Cor, this Italy-themed piece is a wonderful part of your Togetherpiece jewelry line. I think your pieces in this series keep getting better and better.

The hills and trees are beautifully done - and the tiny fortress is an amazing detail. The lines, angles, and curves are so expressive in this lovely uncluttered design.
