Bead Wrapped Bracelet The snake!

I've been seeing this style bracelet all over the place and at very high prices. After wrestling with this snake of a bracelet for two hours, I can see why it might be more expensive with the time needed.

This is my first attempt after researching some online directions and viewing a you tube video by Auntie's Beads. It is actually very comfortable to wear and I love the color combination.

This is made with black leather, bead cord, 8mm Czech glass beads, and a pewter button.

Looks Great!

I've been seeing alot of these too and wondered how hard they were - looks like you mastered it though! You also have a nice blog - you're so lucky that your brother can get you those great copper pieces!

Try it!

If you're game, give it a try. I'm now making another one using a slightly different 'bead ladder' technique. Instead on wrapping the beads using one bead cord, it uses two. It's kind of like lacing up your shoes, with the cords going in opposite directions. It seems somewhat easier to keep the tension on the beads more equal. I wasn't totally happy with some of the uneven lacing in my first attempt. We'll see how the end product looks on this one. I'm hopeful.

Cool:)

I couldn't believe it when a co-worker came into work with the brand name version of this bracelet. I forget but its' just a designer's name. She was so ecstatic that she paid only $100 than the $250 sticker price. I was shocked because all it was made of was leather, waxed linen, and size 4 czech beads. But from what it sounds like, I guess it's really labor intensive. It is very pretty too. I may give it a try.
