Silver Skulls & Gemstone Hoop Earrings
I was fiddling around with wire the other day making ear wires and went from a fish hook to a hoop. How? Don't know, just happened, and I wasn't even in a dark musty attic:)
When I got to the point where I was happy I used 20 gauge white gold plated wire and decided to experiment with all my different components that would make up Halloween themed earrings.
Looking over my strands of gemstones I re-discovered some marvelous faceted Brazilian orange topaz I had and paired it with black onyx with my two different skull earrings. The first skull is pewter and the second carved Howlite. Pewter spacers separate the stones.
In the third earring I decided that I had to have a smaller hoop to make double hoop earrings from the topaz which I paired with black 6x8 Swarovski crystals.
What was really neat about these earrings is that I shot the photographs using my new light tent at 3 o'clock in the morning. It has been an uphill battle for me trying to extract decent photographs from my extremely inferior capabilities. It's taken me a year to find my cameras user manual online and figure out the settings.
All I know is that if I waited for perfection before I did anything with my jewelry I'd still be waiting for it, not learned anything and had not sold a thing.
Designing and making the jewelry is a wonderful experience for me. Everything that has to do with selling it is a hard fought struggle. This definitely is a journey and a fun one at that!
