Copper Flower Brooch

Copper flower brooch

This little copper flower brooch was made with copper sheet which I cut, shaped and oxidized. The bead in the center is yellow calcite. I made the pin mechanism and attached the flower to it.

The actual flower was a mistake. I meant to cut out a shape with five petals to resemble a cherry blossom and forgot one petal.

I wanted to sell this at the Cherry Blossom Festival (Sakura Matsuri) here on Long Island in NY for the Japan Relief organization. My daughter will have a table there with her manga art.

This is now a mystery flower - anyone's guess? I thought it was very pretty anyway so I decided to put it on my Zibbet shop.

I will have to make another flower now with 5 petals.

Hi!
1 Petal too much or not...I love this brooch! You created a beautiful work and the detail like the stone in the heart, and the closing mechanism of the brooch adds to it as well. I like the colour too, and your description was a pleasure to read. Well done! Enjoy making a new flower and please share it with us again.

Thank You Nancy

Thanks for the great comment on my flower brooch. Making these is addictive. I keep thinking of flower shapes I can imitate and maybe color patinas.

I'll probably be experimenting some more.

I Love It

I would love to see the next flower brooch.

Lovely work, and a testimony to serendipity in this work we do.
Hope the fundraising for the victims in Japan is a big success, too.
Do you mind a question about Zibbit? I looked around a bit and see that it's a new online market place. Are you happy with the set up and service provided? I haven't dipped my toes into online selling yet, but am thinking about it. Would love to have you share any advice. Thank you.

Thanks everyone

Thanks everyone for the great comments. It's all very encouraging and supportative. This is one of the reasons I love this site. I get to interact with such talented and giving people.

Lynda, I'm quite new at Zibbet and only have a basic free account. You can list 50 items for free. I personally haven't seen much activity but I may not be participating enough.

I am quite happy at Artfire though. It's very easy to use and the customer service is great.

I enjoy selling online and always looking for ways to improve my marketing. (Rena's book on selling your jewelry online is chock full of information.)

Check out my shop and tell me what you think when you have a chance. http://zoraida.artfire.com
