I just can't stop making leaves. After cutting the sheet, shaping the leaf and adding the fine lines, I darkened it a bit by placing it in a plastic, airtight, Chinese food container with a warm, cut, hard boiled egg.

I didn't have Liver of Sulphur available and being impatient, I wanted to do it NOW.

Not satisfied with the color yet, I took a match and burned the edges a little. When It looked weathered enough. I cleaned it a little and coated it with several layers of clear nail polish.

I then turned it into a necklace with big Kiwi Jasper beads and one huge brown Agate.

Copper leaf and handmade chain
by: Rena

Zoraida, your leaves and petals are an art form. Seriously, you could teach a workshop in the making of copper leaves and flowers.

I always love reading about your process - in this case, how you oxidized and even burned the leaf to weather it. And your handmade chains are always gorgeous.

Thank you Rena

Thank you Rena.

Your words of encouragement are priceless. I think I've grown and learned since joining your site.

By the way, your book - Social Networking: Sell Your Jewelry Online the new way - is wonderful. It's jam packed with great ideas, even someone as socially inept as me can adapt some methods and learn.

Copper Leaf Pendant Necklace

Zoraida,

You inspire me - after I am finally making headway both in my PMC designs and wire-wrapping, along comes a technique so unique and beautiful I must learn how to do it! Can you (or Rena) lead me to either books or CDs on this technique? Unfortunately, here in Southwest Florida, there is not that much by way of unique creations.

And I want to thank so many of you for responding to my request for suggestions in teaching a first jewelry class. It is not until January but I will share with you all how it went.

Thank you Lee

Thank you Lee for you wonderful comments. I'm not sure which techniques you are referring to - making leaves out of copper sheet, or "oxidizing" them.

I'm sure there are some books out there but I have only learned through experimentation and bits and pieces of info I gather through the internet.

I would be more than happy to help you in anyway I can. Feel free to contact me through my site. I'll email you exactly how I did this.
