Copper Swirls Lampwork Bracelet

by Judy Wagner
(Sassy Wire, La Verne, CA)

I love the contrast of the bright french blue scrolls in these lampwork beads against the rich patina of copper.

I've stamped a spiraling design into the copper washers which mimics the scrolls in the beads.

The elements are connected with simple figure-8's and finished with a plump swan clasp.

I added the beaded dangles for weight and to aid in the fun movement of this piece against my wrist.

The liver of sulfur patina and tumble polishing put the finishing touches on this bracelet.

Great choices with the piece. The blue looks perfect with the cooper.

Thanks for the great comments! I love it when the components of a piece work together so well!

Great photo, too!

Judy, Not only is your bracelet beautiful with the blue contrasting against the copper but your photo is also stunning. The browns and orange colors of the shell really make the blue beads pop! What are your photography secrets?

Hi April~~

No secrets, really. I use a good camera (Canon Rebel XT). I try to photograph against a neutral background (in this case, gray acrylic), although I sometimes will use a contrasting background to make the piece "pop." My only secret would be to take several pictures with different flash and focus settings (flash on/off, macro/regular, etc.), then preview them on my computer and choose the best one. I know that there are many better ways to photograph jewelry (and I've seen some beautiful shots!), but this is what works for me.
