Cute & Easy Wire Wrap Rings!

I used to think that I couldn't make rings which was a shame because I LOVE rings! I saw an easy idea for a wire ring and thought why not try it? It never hurts to try and a lot of times you will be pleasantly surprised. I took the idea and played with color and size wires and different beads or crystals. I tried different colors and bead caps as well as half round and square wires.....and came up with these...I love copper and vintaj wire as well as pearls, semi precious gemstones, and crystals!

These are fabulous. Great beads and use of wires.

Wire wrap rings

The bead caps are a really nice touch on the first 3 rings. Also love the colored wire instead of traditional metal colors!

Thinking outside the box

Thank you! I was worried about scratching the colored wires but was just carefull and it was worth it. I think the 4th one does seem a little lacking with no bead caps, such a simple little thing but it makes a big difference.

I usually do one piece when inspired and then move to something entirely different for the next one but with these easzy rings I couldn't stop ;) I encourage anyone who hasn't tried doing rings before to try this. You just take a length of wire depending on the size ring you need and fold it in half around a ring mandral or wodden dowel and at the ends of the wire make a loop then wrap this around your mandral or dowel and bend the looped ends through the larger circle you made and fold them over...Then it's just a matter of chosing beads etc and wirewrapping onto the ring and a little wire on each side to help hold the wires together. (Hope that made sense)

Very Pretty!!

These rings are really pretty. I'm not sure which I like best. Maybe the one with the Swarovky crystal or the Goldstone-? In any case, they are really lovely.

I love them all! Are you going to tell us how you made them??? Please???

How To
by: Mendi

Ok I will try and explain how to do this without picutres :)

Materials:
-6 1/2 inches of 18gauge wire (this should give you a size 7 ring)
-4 inches of 22gauge or smaller (and it -can be round, half round, or square)
1/4" to 1/2" dowel (you can make this larger or smaller depending on the size bead you will center in it)
Cut a segment of 18gauge wire 6 1/2 inches long. Make a simple loop in the ends of this wire using your round nose pliers. Start about 3" or the middle of the wire use your dowel and loop the wire around it. Bend your 2 "tail" wires straight down so you now have a open larger loop with two wires each with a small "p" loop at the end. Next you wrap the wire around your ring mandrel to the desired size (there should be enough length in the wire to adjust to size 7 or 8). Bend the wire until the ends almost meet. Remove the wire from your ring mandrel and insert the small loops into the larger circle of wire made around the 1/4" - 1/2" dowel. Bend the two sections of wire with the small loops over the larger circle of wire made around the dowel. Next you need to wrap fine gauge wire around both sides of the ring to keep the two wire segments together. This is where you would use your 22gauge wire, however, you can use different sizes and shapes of wire. Cut a segment of this wire about 1 3/4" long. Make a "U" shaped bend in the wire with the tips of your round nose pliers. Position the bottom of the "U" next to one side of the ring and wrap the wire around tightly several times. Make a similar wrap of wire on the opposite side of the ring. To make the setting for your bead (4mm is a good size for this) you use 21 or 22 gauge wire. Make an initial loop in a piece of 21 or 22 gauge wire about 1 1/2 inches long and add your bead. Make a loop at the other end of the wire and cut off the left over wire. Now you should have your bead with an eye loop at each end. Next you connect the bead to the ring. Open the loops on either end with your chain nose pliers and position the bead wire component in the larger circle of wire on the ring and then close both loops again with your bent chain nose pliers.
That's it! Sounds complicated but once you do it you see how easy it is.

Thank you!

Isn't it amazing what you can do with one little ol' bead and some wire! Great job!

Cute and Easy

These are just great! Just what I was looking for. I have a problem with my bead moving around in the circle. Is there something I missed? Thanks for sharing
