Etched Copper

Etched Copper "Friend" Pendant with Varigated Faceted Moonstones

I etched this copper "Friend" pendant using the same etching technique shown elsewhere on this website; I learned it from a class I took several years ago.

I made one for me and one for my best friend; and have sold several.

I have suspended them from pearls, moonstones, jasper, amazonite, etc, etc.

After etching and antiquing, I finish by spraying with a clear polyurethane spray to keep it from turning colors over time.

Lucky friend!

What a neat jewelry gift item - to give one to a friend and have a matching one for yourself.

Thanks so much for sharing another example of etched copper jewelry!

NICE!

I like it!

This is just lovely! I am curious what ga. is the best to use on this type of work?

Thanks for sharing.

What Gauge?
by: Louise Kaplan

I think I used copper disks that were 18 gauge for this project. I used flat disks that I domed with a dapping block after etching and antiquing.

What gauge??

I think I used 18 gauge copper disks for this project. I ordered flat disks from Metalliferous.com (they have all shapes available!) and domed them after etching and antiquing. I then domed them using a dapping block and finished with a polyurethane spray after doming.
