Eternal knot

Eternal knot from the movie Dark Crystal

Eternal knot from the movie Dark Crystal

This portable petroglyph is carved on African Wonderstone using a technique I call micro pecking.

This is a miniaturization of the pecking process used to carve the ancient petroglyphs seen all all over the world.

Fine craftsmanship

What a cool piece, and finely rendered. It looks like a pendant that you can't help touching often while wearing it.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece here, and your interesting technique for creating petroglyph designs!

Eternal Knot technique?
by: Virginia Vivier

Stephen,

Your Eternal knot pendant is strikingly elegant.

How did you learn this technique?

Would you share your process with us? I would love to learn how to do this, but it looks very difficult.

I have been using an acid etching process on metal to get similar results, but would like to know how to achieve the same contrast on stone.

Where does the stone come from? Is it a softer stone that can be carved, like marble?

I'd love to see some photos of you making this kind of pendant in your studio....please share if you can? I am a huge admirer of your talent!
