Fento Art Glass Recycled

Red Glass

Red Glass

An artist friend of mine makes beautiful sun catchers from the glass discarded by the famous 'Fenton Art Glass' company.

I am one of the lucky few she passes her scraps on to.

I take the glass scraps and either tumble or melt them and then I wrap them in silver, gold or copper colored copper.

The second piece is a turquoise bead wrapped in copper.

All my wire is enameled and anti tarnish and because it's all copper, my prices are very reasonable.

Wonderful "scraps"!
by: Rena

Receiving the Fenton glass scraps from your friend must feel like Christmas! I'd say your friend is a keeper. :o)

I love wire-wrapping unique things like these.

I'm sure these wonderful glass pieces adorned with your wirework catch loads of attention and compliments!

Do people often lean in for a closer look and ask, "What *is* that beautiful stone?"

They do!

People are very surprised when I tell them it's Fenton Art glass. The red is the favorite of the colors, rightfully so, as it takes gold to make it. To get 'scrap' red glass is a rarity so it really does feel like Christmas when I get some. My friend truly is a 'keeper'.

Recycled Stained Glass
by: Christa

That's how I started out making wire-wrapped jewelry. I used to work with stained and accumulated a lot of beautiful scrap pieces. I taught myself to wire-wrap and have never looked back.
I live in Bermuda and everything has to be imported and working with stained glass became very expensive. That's why I turned to wire-wrapping,
Keep up the good work.
