Gold Illusions

Gold Illusions

Frustrated that I could not afford sterling silver wire, I purchased some brass wire. This necklace was created while learning to use this new medium to fashion my usual spirals and leaves.

I wanted a piece of jewelry that looked rich, like gold, and made entirely of metal. The brass wire gave me the illusion of wealth.

Although I am a silver person at heart, I now use brass often, sometimes combining it with copper or silver.

Richly beautiful

So elegant and artistic.

I really like how you've designed the spirals into the links going up the sides of this necklace.

I agree about discovering the beauty of metals like brass, copper, etc., as silver and gold prices have risen.

I have found working with these alternative metals and experiencing how they like to be worked with and how they patina is a pleasure.

Thanks for posting this eye-catching piece!

Thank you, Rena
