Handmade silver pendant Sunray with oil paint ray of sunlight

by Nancy & Cor
(Uitgeest, The Netherlands)

I wanted to offer a wearable Sunray, I loved the idea of having a Sunray to wear, so my husband and I designed and made this necklace together.

This necklace is a collaboration of original metalsmithing with silver and painting of a tiny ray of yellow, thick, vibrant oilpaint. Pendant and oil painting are both handmade with love and passion.

The ray of sunlight does not stop. It goes right through the silver sky and shines always. We enjoyed designing and making this pendant so much.

The stone in the background on the pictures we took from the riverbedding the Cecina, in Tuscany, to our home in the Netherlands. Sun and Tuscany belong together and this yellow sunray pendant reminds us of the golden hills in Tuscany.

Cor made this silver (.925, first quality) pendant especially for this tiny stripe of oil painting I made. The chain is also sterling silver, first quality, with lobster claw closure, also silver.

As you can see on the pictures, the tiny piece of canvas with the oil painting is sunk into the silver pendant. The loop is on the back of the pendant, also handmade.

Chain: fine silver 50 cm
19.7 inches

Weight of the pendant: 13 gram, massive silver.

Measurements:
15 x 42 mm, 2 mm thick
0.6 x 1.65 inches, 0.08 inches thick

On the back of the pendant is a tiny mark ".925".

The tiny stripe painting is on canvas, glued into the pendant and varnished for protection.

Love the sun theme you have going on here. This is a very unique piece of jewelry. Your artwork & silversmithing have such beautiful lines and symmetry. Simple, clean, elegant. This is lovely! Kudos to you & your husband in this collaboration.

Ray of sunlight necklace
by: Rena

What a lovely way to have a ray of sunlight with you on cloudy days or on even the darkest night. I agree with Diane - the simple, clean composition is very powerful.

Interesting contrasts of silver and gold colors; of a vertical focal piece and a strong diagonal line.

This piece is really stunning - thank you for sharing it here!

Also neat to hear about the stone that's in these photos!
