Hearts and Fluorite Necklace Copper wirework detail

I"ve had these beautiful, translucent, Green Fluorite beads in my stash for years and didn't know what to do with them.

Finally, I decided to pair them up with copper wire and design something with hearts.

I had a crafts fair to attend the next day and wanted to have something new as it was a juried show.

To my amazement, this piece actually won first place and I was awarded a blue ribbon.

I was absolutely giddy. There were literally hundreds of exquisite examples of handmade jewelry items in the same category to compete with.

I thought it was my imagination when I heard my name.

Also, gorgeously done wirework in your closeup shot!

Lovely design and great handmade clasp.

Congratulations on your blue ribbon! What an exciting day that must have been.

Beautiful wire work

Great how you used the heart motif both right side up and upside down, and in more than one place. Yay for your blue ribbon!

Well deserved
by: Rebecca Stone

Zoraida, I love your pieces that are on your site! And this one is such a cool combination of the copper and fluorite. Bending wire is so much fun. I'm curious: What gauge do you generally use in your pieces?

Thank you

Thank you Rena, Katie L.,Kathleen, Diane and Rebecca

I love the feedback I get from all of you. I really do appreciate your comments.
Kathleen, you're soo poetic.
Rebecca, I usually use 14G wire for most of my spirals and links. I like the look of fat wire but 14G can be very hard to work with especially
in brass or bronze wire. I just started using
what is supposed to be soft bronze wire but its definitely NOT soft. My hands are killing me. I don't think I can work with it.

You Have A Gift!

I am not suprised of your accomplishment - you deserved it!

Heart in copper
by: Kate

I love the look of the soft green with copper. I have tried copper , but found the guage too soft 20g. I think from your comment that I wil try 16g.
I think your necklace is really pretty.
