Hollow Technique Necklace with Gemstones, White and Yellow Gold and Leather Cord

"JADE" Handmade necklace by Giacomo

detail of jade necklace by giacomo

Scrap natural stones (jade and agate), yellow sapphire, ruby, emerald, chocolate diamond, blue sapphire, plus 18k white and yellow gold, with braided leather cord.

Repousee, chasing, punching on lead block, soldering.

My technique is hard to explain, must be watched:

I am working exclusively hollow items and I am using only ONE type of solder on the item, and I prefer to make myself. Usually is the same karat (purity) as the item is.

The story of this item is too long and complicated for the moment. Maybe with some other occasion I will have the necessary time to tell...

Cindi , I am just developing this technique myself right now ..It was a dream of my youth as a young aprentice , bored of the "standards" in jewelry making...it has to past almost 30 years until I dared to put it in practice ..I've had made already a second project, named CARNIVAL, with most intricate and dificult design, the body is more realistic , in motion , as you can see, watching the series CARNIVAL here :

The final video will be posted tomorrow , and then will come more projects starting next week ..Imagine MJ in his most beautifull and famous attitudes on stage ..Five projects , for Jackson 5 ...Michael Jackson , five different pendants ...

Exquisite!

Your work is absolutely exquisite! You say you work in chasing and repousse, but when I saw the pieces and their construction, I thought surely it must be wax and cast?Either way the result is beautiful, but I'm fascinated by the construction, and I would love to see the chasing and the methods of attachment.

Very inspiring!

wax and cast
by: Giacomo

Thank you for your comments. I don't have a casting system , I never used one before . I know only sand casting method , but I read enough to be able to handle a vacuum or a centrifugal casting machine..Anyhow , my prefered it will be the CAST/T machine, a german marvell . Regarding how I am doing my items , you can watch the http://media.goettgen.de/users/Giacomo , or
http://media.goettgen.de/search/?search_id=JADE&search_type=search_videos&x=22&y=10
to see my technique . Brieffly , of course, due to the limitation of the website settings. Or you can watch my recent project :

I hope you'll find the right way to watch this videos and find the answers to our questions .
