Lapis Pendant Necklace

by zoraida

back of pendant

I've just learned to create a lacey bezel for a cab. This is my first attempt.

The Lapis cab I've been hoarding for over a year, finally has a setting. Of course, I had to create a collar to hang it from but I wanted to keep it simple.

This one is for me because I love the stone.

Bt the way, I'm a finalist in the Readers Choice Awards in the favorite jewelry designer catagory and I'm thrilled and surprised. Don't forget to vote here.

Heavenly blue

The stone and metal colors set each other off perfectly! I love how the wire setting is handmade and a bit fancy, but it doesn't hide too much of the gorgeous lapis stone.

The coil-detailed neckwire is a beautiful companion to the pendant.

Perfect precision

Hi Zoraida,

I love the entourage you made for this beautiful stone. What great satisfaction to be able to do so after having this stone for a year.
How precise do you have to work(or be) to get this result. Here is some true admiration from my part because I know I wouldn't be able to make such a masterpiece.
Good for you to keep it for yourself, but what to do when you encounter someone who also falls in love with it, which is very imaganable??

Thank you Rena & Joyce

Thank you for the great comments.

Weaving this bezel was actually quite easy especially if you've ever done any type of macrame, crochet or any kind of weaving.

It's not all that precise - a little tweaking here and there helps gives that impression.

The hardest part was probably figuring out how to create the bail. Since my frame was 16 gauge wire, this was strong enough to make a bail using the "tail" I had left at the beginning.

If someone were to ask to buy it, and the price was right, I would most likely sell it. I would look for another piece of Lapis to replace it - I do need to be practical (unfortunately).
