Lucky Dutch Dime Necklace

by Huismus
(The Netherlands, Europe)

I have saved a few coins when the euro replaced our guilder currency.

I've made a little dime -dubbeltje- from 1974 into a pendant by adding a sterling silver ring. A pearl charm and a hematite faceted bead make a great ensemble. It dangles from an oxidized chain and I really like the contrast.

The necklace closes with a lobster clasp and the ends are wire wrapped for extra security. Also with small hematite tubes to match.

Length; 52 cm / 20,5 inch

All silver used is sterling.

Lovely keepsake necklace
by: Rena

What a great way to create a memento of a coin that will soon be thought of as an antique! A lovely preservation that tells a bit of Dutch history and culture.

Thank you for sharing this neat necklace with us!

What a clever idea to make a piece with a lovely nostalgic feeling.
The piece all together is made very beautifully. You did a great job in using such an original element making it stand out!

I like to see how people always come up with very clever ideas for coin jewelry. This dime is beautiful and very eye catching. The drops are a pleasing addition!

I really love your coin pedant, don't suppose you would be willing to share your technique for applying the silver ring around the coin? I have some Mexican Peso's that would look great as a pendant. Thanks, Heidi
