Maple Leaves is a collaborative design. My client went through my supplies, ooo-ing and ahh-ing and selecting what seemed to me to be unrelated parts. She described what she had in mind, then told me to go for it and do my thing.
Which means to let the beads, stampings, etc. talk to me. It took some trial and error, especially the "over the top" look she wanted. But she is a good customer and was going on a cruise and had just grabbed a handful of my business cards, she had run out of the last handful, giving them out on her trip to Michigan. Besides, my whole idea of collaborative design calls for the integration of the client's ideas and style with my skills for listening to the beads.
The result - a large necklace of stampings, rose colored glass pearls, a cameo, all chosen by the client, melded with copper chain, a center stamping for the cameo and to hold it all together visually. A necklace that was worn to the Captain's Table.
