Birthed after many hours of labor

This pearl encrusted statement piece is an adaptation of a class by Diane Dennis. In my version, I used about every technique - stringing, metalwork, peyote stitch and free form bead weaving.

Oh, those tiny seed beads I used to hold everything together do a number on your eyes!!

Now, I remember why it has taken me over a year to tackle a project like this again.

Absolutely awesome piece. I love how the thicker strand of pearls makes a gracefully swooshing line, going down one side and around half of the focal element.

And all the tiny beads and detailed work in this incredible piece - wow! My hat's off to you for sticking with it to completion - it's gorgeously done.

If you decide to sell it, I hope you price it like fine artwork for all your skill, hours, and attention to detail.

I kept looking and looking at this piece...so much work to it. I admire you for all the time you put into creating such an awesome necklace. My arthritis does not lend itself for me to do such delicate work. I really love this one. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you all so much for your kind comments. Magnificent Obsession is gone already. The original piece from the class was all done in peyote stitch and then pearl encrusted in the wave like design. That took several days to complete and honestly I nearly had double vision by the time I finished. I kept that one for myself. This one I bezeled the mabe pearl in peyote stitch but then I attached the mabe pendant to .014 beading wire and strung pearls and seed beads - 2 strands on the embellished side. Then I went up and down the two strand side stitching in loops of pearls and seed beads pulling the strands together. It took several hours over a few days time to complete it but was much less work than the first one. I am a lazy beader and will always look for a way to use stringing to mime/create the effect of more complicated beadwork. I later met the woman who bought the piece for lunch one day and she had it on. She looked so gorgeous in it - made my day!!
