Making Tiny Journals to Wear, Using Origami

Paper Demon Jewelry is about taking leaps of faith and believing in yourself. I decided to make a piece of jewelry that expresses that, and of course I had to do it out of paper!

I decided to take the origami book fold designed by David Brill, and adapt it to jewelry by using high quality paper, and finishing it with sealer and stringing on cord, to make a necklace.

The finished product is only 1 1/4" high, but still has 8 customizable blank pages and two tiny pockets. It can be personalized with Japanese kanji stamps of your choice, such as light, spirit, eternity, love, belief, etc.

I call them Note to Self: Tiny Journals to Call Your Spirit.

(In origami it is always proper etiquette to credit the creator of the fold in anything you make from it. The book fold I use here was created by David Brill. It can be found in the book Brilliant Origami. You can watch the fold on this video: How to Fold David Brill's Miniature Origami Book.)

Notes to self
by: Rena

Karen, these are so cool - and even with tiny pockets! What a clever way to combine your multiple talents and interests. I love the "Note to Self" name.

Thanks so much for sharing this neat idea - and also for the link to the video!
