A mermaid's garden of watery blue treasures
The idea behind this bracelet began with inspiration from the design of this sterling toggle clasp.
It reminded me of a fantasy sea creature and I wanted to come up with a design that would showcase the beauty of this clasp.
Shades of lavender, sea-glass green, turquoise and baby blue seemed like the right color combination to make an underwater garden fit for a mermaid.
The bracelet is composed of bits and pieces of vintage and contemporary plastic, lucite, glass, stick pearls, crystal and silver-plated metals.
To make the multi-layered components, I layered the parts on a headpin, and then secured the layers with a "double" simple loop before stringing them on beading wire.
Hidden from view under the largest component, (the large turquoise "coral fan" next to the clasp), is a sterling silver mermaid charm.
