Mixed metal: copper and brass earrings

These are not your usual heavy metal jewelry - they are light weighted.

I love them. It was real fun to make them.

Learned a new - for me - technique: heat coloring, from now on will be darken my brass only this way, liver of sulfur is not working - as vinegar with salt - that's the one.

do you dip the metals inthe solution and heat over an open flame? or is it soaked inthe solution and "baked"?

Re: Technique

Pat, thanks for the question.
I tried several ways to darken brass....none of them gave me satisfaction as this technique...simple , fast, effective...just direct your flame from micro torch over ( no solution of any kind) and play with distance, time and etc.....the piece should be cleaned very well...

Love the mix

Faina, I love what you've achieved with these mixed materials. Especially, the silver 'gromets' in the brass pieces. Share more when you can, please.

Very nice

Faina,
I love your earrings their really different. I don't work with much brass because it doesn't take the liver of sulfur. I never thought of heating it up. I am going to give it a try. Thanks for sharing.

just the comment and again thnks

Thanks again everyone for comments, just forgot to add, after using torch you need to put your piece in cold water immediately ....and do this as often as you need. Another detail, the word "play" with torch in my original post is the key word, every play period will produce a different result. Still did not figure out how to preserve this patina forever.....eventually I will. For now,.... just clear sealer, coating, but read on internet after 6 months jewelry will continue to oxidize under a spray lacquer or coating ....that's the challenge.....

PS, can somebody tell me, how can I edit already posted message, did not find any tools on this site.....and I do not get any comments notification through email .....maybe , just maybe did not check appropriate box while was submitting an original post?....is there any way to correct this?

just figure out
