Handmade mans ring
I normally make pendants and have only made a couple of rings before. I decided it was about time I made something I would enjoy wearing myself, rather than trying to guess what someone else would like.
I had a piece of nickel-silver which was rather thin and too short to go all the way round my big finger.I like the look of brass and copper but they tarnish too quickly against my skin, so after thinking about it for a while I decided to have the silver against my skin.
I stiffened it up with some brass and wrapped the silver around the brass a bit which covers the brass, strengthens the silver and leaves a nice smooth edge.I used another bit of brass to join in to make it long enough, and a random shaped bit of copper for contrast.
The copper bit is silver soldered on and it is also soldered around the rivets from behind to make a solid and secure connection. I know it all sounds a bit random and haphazard but I'm really happy with the result, and wear it all the time.
On my blog there is another ring and some other cool mixed metal stuff, and at my shop there is a gallery of other things I've made and of course some pendants for sale.
