Modern Birthstones

This modern birthstones list began in the early 20th Century, when a group of United States jewelers created a standardized listing of stones.

It differs slightly from the older traditional birthstones list, to allow for some less-expensive alternatives to some of the costlier stones.

Today this is the most widely accepted version throughout most of the world.
