EUROPEAN 4-1 BRAIDED

EUROPEAN 4-1 BRAIDED

I have been working as a chainmail artist since 2009. I'm from South Africa. I love the complexity that chainmail offers in it’s designs. Chainmail started as an early form of armor and has evolved into many intricate weaves and patterns. My goal is to bring the beauty of this ancient art back into our lives today. All of my artwork is handmade. My hope is that my artwork will inspire you to look into it’s history and celebrate it’s beauty.

The History Of Jewellery Is Very Important
by: Anna

Thank you for sharing this email bracelet. I rarely write comments, but when I read your write up I felt it important to say that YES it is very important to continue the fine tradition of ancient techniques, and to teach people about the history of a technique or style or bead or whatever it may be. I have noticed that since the advent of mass produced supplies, we have lost alot of the fact that since ancient times, since the beginning of mankind, jewellery was not just about the "bling" or to adorn ones body. Jewellery and all the techniques, and what the jewellery was made of had great meaning to the wearer. It was an expression of that persons heritage, their culture, their beliefs, and so on. So good for you, to not only showcase a beautiful truly handmade piece of artwork using a complex design of chain maille, but also including some of its history too. This is important to continue to teach & inspire. Good for you. And keep up the great work.
