My very first chain maille, European 2-1

European 2 in 1 chainmaille, flat chain

This is my very first chain maille weave. I made it from aluminum wire. I’m just getting started and can’t afford to use much sterling silver yet, and I have found that when tumbled, aluminum is a very pretty metal. I am having one problem, the one end with my hook clasp lies flat, but on the other end that has the jump-ring to hook onto to close the bracelet, the last two rings tend to bunch up instead of lying flat. Is that normal?

Pat,
Thank you. I have been wanting to do some chain maille. But it is really complicated. I watched quite a few you tube videos till I found a couple that I could do. I don't know if very many people make jewelry out of aluminum. But I found that I really like it. It is so light. But I do have to run my rings through the tumbler since aluminum is so soft.

Linda
