The Mysterious Floating Ring
I wanted to create a rustic-looking pearl and sterling silver jewelry set. I already had a variety of rustic pearl necklaces and earrings I could wear together, so I thought it would be nice to have a bracelet and ring to wear with them.
The bracelet is a 14-gauge soft sterling silver wire frame, with white pearls of various sizes and shapes wired to it using 24-gauge half-hard silver wire.
(I'm not the originator of this bracelet style - I've seen it in several jewelry publications, but I don't know who to cite as the original creator.)
The ring is 20-gauge round soft silver wire, with an almost-perfect freshwater pearl wired to it.
The 20-gauge wire wouldn't fit through the pearl's hole, so I used 24-gauge silver wire to wire-wrap the pearl to the ring shank, and then wrapped the 20-gauge wire ends around the pearl to form a "nest".
