Pewter Jewelry

Pewter is a rather soft, easy-to-shape jewelry making metal alloy, consisting mainly of tin plus small amounts of copper, antimony - and sometimes lead.

However, lead is being phased out of pewter production due to increasing awareness of the danger of lead poisoning.

Be sure to check whether pewter jewelry components contain lead before buying them.

Pewter has often been used as the base metal for silver-plating.

Jewelry artists are most likely to find pewter in the form of beads, clasps, earring findings, pendants, and charms.
