When asked to lead jewelry workshop for the young ladies in our youth group, I began looking for easy to learn, inexpensive, and versatile projects. Found this slip knot necklace on the internet. We'll be using 1.5 mm leather cord and waxed cotton cord for the necklace...each requires about one yard, more if you knot on beads to embellish. The technique is also good for bracelets and anklets.
I'm also including a photo of some bracelets they'll be making. These use rubber tubing pieces with beads, strung on memory wire. (Yes, that's tubing, not tubbing as the photo states). Thinking they'll have lots of fun with these techniques and materials.
If you have other successful projects for junior high/high school age, please share. Hoping this is the first workshop in a series.
