Spirals and Coils Pendant Necklace

Spirals and Coils Pendant Necklace

While playing with left over copper coils, I came up with this pendant. I wasn't sure of where it was going but it was developing into a design that resembled a bug - perhaps a newly emerging butterfly?

After suspending some hammered spirals from the pendant, I decided to add a different type of link to put it all together.

I hammered and curved some lengths of copper wire, added more spirals to connect them and then finished with a spiraled hook and eye clasp.

I also added a few extra figure 8 links with a small dangling spiral to provide an adjustable length for the necklace.

I tried it on and loved the way the necklace curved around the neck with those scalloped links.

I meant to keep it for myself and did not display it at my table at a recent craft fair, but I did wear it.

Wouldn't you know it, that was the piece a customer wanted and being soo damned practical, I reluctantly sold it.

I will now have to recreate a similar piece. I miss it badly.

Copper perfection
by: Rena

Oh my, Zoraida, this is one of those pieces of jewelry where every single element works together sublimely.

From the artistically coiled and spiraled pendant, to the gracefully scalloped neckpiece, to the handmade clasp and dangle - everything is just right.

I can see why your customer couldn't live without it. And I'm sure you'll be hearing from her friends once they've seen her gorgeous copper necklace!

I know your bittersweet feeling of regret at selling a favorite piece you labored over. I still sadly miss a few pieces I sold years ago when I should have kept them. The original of this incredible design will always have a special place in your heart.

Thank you so much for sharing it here with us, Zoraida!
