Spring Awakening

by Janine
(Holliston, MA)

Although spring is far over and winter is ahead of us, it is nice to reminisce.

This lavender color piece is made of tiny cut-outs of polymer clay, shaped, and foiled to look like bead caps or petals.

Sterling headpins and tiny 3mm crystals adorn the center and are strung onto silk hand dyed cording and sterling Bali beads.

Lots of work, this probably took me about 5 hours split up in 2 days. Most of the time was the sanding of the edges of the petals so it wouldn't be rough on the skin. If I had a bench press to buff it with it would go much faster.

Spring is still in the air

Wonderful necklace with such fabulous colors. Even though we are heading into the fall/winter it is nice to see pieces that make us think of warm sunshine.

Beautiful work!

This necklace is beautiful. I love the whole thing!

Prettiest polymer clay piece I've seen
by: Jackie

I love working with polymer clay but always feel like my pieces look like they came out of 4th grade art class. This is just lovely and precious. Nice work!

Clay

I felt the same way about my clay being "juvenile" looking for years! Some pieces still look that way to me.
The best advice to "adult" them up is to combine them with metal. Adding foils in silver or gold always pretty it up and make it more sophisticated.
Thank you for the nice comments:)
