Spun Sugar

by Patricia Tyser Carberry
(Prescott, Arizona)

This necklace is made of handmade hollow glass beads and disks. I make the large, lightweight beads on a hollow mandrel, blowing a small puff of air at the end to open up the beads. The disks were rolled in fret- which is ground glass, to give them the spun sugar effect.

Patricia, this is delightful. I'm a fan of hollow glass beads and these are different to what i have seen available to beaders.
You are so clever to make the disks too.

Thank you

Thanks, Kate. I do sell my beads as well. I mainly make them for my own jewelry, but plan to make more of these soon. Also in a metallic silvery blue.

Very cool!
