Sterling Silver Pendant with Oil Painting Italy

by Nancy & Cor
(Uitgeest, The Netherlands)

This is wearable art of unique character. Oil painted jewelry. And we love Italy!

A collaboration of original metalsmithing with silver and a detailed oil painting of a Poppy Field with Cypresses, both handmade with love and passion.

My husband Cor van der Plaat made this silver (925, first quality) pendant especially for this oil painting I made. I like the organic look of the "silver lining" here a lot myself, and the loose form.

Size frame: 32 x 19 mm / 1.3 x 0.75 inches
thickness: ca. 2 - 2.5 mm / 0.08 - 0.1 inches

Chain: 50 cm / 19 inches

Weight of the pendant: 15 gram, massive silver.
On the back of the pendant is a tiny mark ".925".

The painting is on canvas, glued into the pendant and varnished for protection.

I loved making this tiny painting for the purpose of wearable art and my husband enjoyed making the pendant.

Dreaming of Italy
by: Rena

I like the free-form shape of the silver frame. It adds a cloud-like feel to the scene, and gives me the feeling of peering into a dream.

Another wonderful collaboration piece! Thank you for sharing this lovely bit of artistry here.

Dear Rena,
Your comment means a lot to us. You know perhaps what we intended first: the pink cloud, but it did not work and it was great to step off that idea. To depict a scenery that looks like a dream was a much better idea for the lovely silver pendant Cor made. Thank you so much for your comment, Rena!
