Bead crochet necklace inspired by African glass beads

Bead crochet necklace inspired by African glass beads

My necklaces are made with a very old-fashioned crochet technic. The beads (11/0) are strung one by one according a pattern and crocheted one by one.

I started making necklaces like this one when I worked for a beadingshop in Amsterdam giving workshops, teaching all sorts of beading technics.

The shop sold old African glass bead necklaces and I loved them, but I could not afford them, so I used this technic to "copy" them.

Amazing bead crochet strand
by: Rena

Joyce, this necklace is simply stunning! Your bead crochet work and color choices - just WOW! And the optical illusion of being a strand of African beads is very, very effective.

Absolutely gorgeous piece. How long did it take you to create this masterpiece?
