SweetLife Recycled Paper Lariat Necklace
I normally work in fine handmade Japanese washi paper exclusively, but I live in Eugene, Oregon, which is blessed to have a fantastic artist materials exchange center (MECCA - Materials Exchange Center for the Creative Arts).
A quick note about MECCA: Anyone can donate their old 'materials' (loosely defined) and anyone can come take them home for a donation of a couple bucks.
In an artsy town like Eugene, you can't believe the high quality stuff that gets donated there!
Anyway, I was looking around their huge paper section, and found pieces of old paper twist rope. It was in beautiful colors and had a lovely crinkled texture. I bought the entire box!
SweetLife is the result.
I found a way to sculpt the paper twist into beautiful organic flowery shapes, and strung them on vegan pleather crinkly cord.
I'm working on earrings and rings to match.
I love this, and it made it to the front page of Etsy!
