Thistle Down Medallion .999 Fine Silver
This is a PMC tale of triumph pulled from disaster...sort of.
You see, I heard about PMC and thought to myself, piece of cake. What could be easier. Simply make what is in my head with the clay, fire and voila you'll appear to be a jewelry genius.
50 grams of silver slag later...I'd learned the expensive lesson that sintering is not so easy as it looks on YouTube videos.
However four tiny pieces did manage to survive and what is more came out surprisingly pretty.
They were also the least elaborate of my efforts. All I did was roll out a 3 card thickness, press a sprig of tiny late Summer / early Fall season flowers into the rolled out piece, and apply the roller again.
I used mini cookie cutters to cut oval and round shapes of different sizes. Allowed the clay and the flower fragments to completely cure.
Before sintering I lightly sanded the medallions, and gently drilled holes with a bead reamer.
After sintering I tumbled them for several hours with stainless shot and a drop of dish soap.
Many months later I finally decided what to do with one of the small charms. Thus is born this necklace.
