Turquoise nugget on a copper collar necklace
A few years ago I had purchased a strand of big, fat, Turquoise nuggets at a gem fair. They are really too big to incorporate into most of my jewelry designs.
I put them aside until I could come up with something. I finally decided to use one individually and see how it worked out.
I recently bought some 12 gauge coppper wire and found it too hard to work with easily. I combined these two "troublesome" elements together and this is what turned out.
I created a collar of copper wire with a center loop to capture the Turquoise. Hammered the shaped the wire to feel comfortable and sit gracefully on the neckline. I then added a short length of handmade chain with a hook to serve as a "safety chain" and to accomodate a larger sized neck.
I liked the simplicity of the design and got to use my big, fat Turquoise nugget.
